FAQs

What can we expect in a Training session?

All of our training classes, whether virtual or in-person, are highly interactive and practical. The goal is for participants to learn actionable techniques and skills - not catchy quotes and theories. Most classes are half to full-day but multi-day classes covering different topics with different teams are common for us. Training is most appropriate to address gaps in knowledge, experience, or understanding.

What exactly does an Ombuds do?

An ombuds provides confidential, informal, independent and impartial assistance to individuals through dispute resolution and problem-solving methods such as conflict coaching, facilitation, and shuttle diplomacy. The ombuds responds to concerns and disputes brought forward and may convey trends, systemic problems, and organizational issues to high-level leaders and executives in a confidential manner. Ombuds do not advocate for individuals, groups or entities, but rather for the principles of fairness and equity. Ombuds services are most appropriate to prevent the escalation of individual or team disputes.

What is Mediation?

A mediator is a third-party neutral who assists parties in negotiating jointly acceptable resolution of issues in conflict. A mediation is confidential and often ends in a formal agreement between the parties. The average mediation session usually takes a few hours or multiple sessions may be required for complex situations. Mediation is used to settle contract, interpersonal, human resource, and EEO conflicts.
